Creative consultant, educator, and author Peter Markham, former directing head at the American Film Institute Conservatory, offers over 50 hours of courses online. Prior to teaching, he was a director in his native UK, and worked with filmmakers such as Anthony Minghella and Martin Scorsese. His first book What’s the Story?—The Director Meets Their Screenplay: An Essential Guide for Directors and Writer-Directors was published by Focal Press/Routledge on September 8th 2020. His second book The Art of the Filmmaker: The Practical Aesthetics of the Screen was published by Oxford University Press on October 13th 2023. He is currently giving consultations on both shorts and features at all stages—from initial idea, to screenplay, to visualization, to production, through to the cut and final edit. His online courses are scheduled at regular intervals.
